AIYF demands salaries forteachers of private schools

The All India Youth Federation has demanded the private educational institutions to pay their teachers and the non-teaching staff for 12 months a year so that they get what they deserve for their hard work.
In a statement here on Monday, AIYF city general secretary Navaneetham Sambasiva Rao said that the managements were extracting a lot of work from the staff but they were paying salaries only for eight to nine months a year. He said that regardless of the service rules, the private managements were making their staff work for more than required time but not paying accordingly to the staff and action should be taken against in this respect.
Mr. Sambasiva Rao said that a memorandum to this effect was submitted to the deputy inspector of schools when the AIYF delegation sought justice for the teaching and non-teaching staff in private schools and a solution to their problems.
Stating that there were private, residential, non-residential, corporate, English and Telugu medium schools all over, Mr. Sambasiva Rao said that lakhs of teaching and non- teaching staff were working in these schools and they were facing a lot of problems. These institutions were offering courses from kindergarten to PG and the “equal work, equal pay” rule was not being implemented any where, he deplored.

Action sought

Mr. Rao demanded that the government take action against such managements which were meeting out a bad deal to the staff and all efforts should be made to stop the commercialisation of the school education in the State in the best interests of the children.
